ROBIN HOOD WEEK
Week beginning February 5th 2007 was Robin Hood Week. On Wednesday 7th February M&M Theatrical Productions presented a performance of Robin Hood to the whole school. This was enjoyed by everyone
Most of our work linked to the theme of Robin Hood. Our
Early Years Unit turned the environmental area into 'Sherwood Forest'
and it became an outdoor classroom for the week.
They also made signs and targets and used sticks to make bows and arrows. Indoors, they made tabards and hats with feathers. For snack-time the children sat round a ‘camp fire’. Classes 1—4 enjoyed stories and poems about Robin Hood and looked at different characters. They designed posters and a front cover for a short story and created a storyboard. Also the children made hats, bows and arrows. Class 4 studied the Old English language and sketched cartoon characters.
Class 5 worked on their extended writing ‘The Forgotten Tale of Robin Hood’. They also designed a spreadsheet for recording Robin Hood and his Merry Men’s scores at Archery.
Class 6 held a class debate on the theme ‘Stealing from the Rich and giving to the Poor—sound principle or a recipe for chaos?’ The children also looked things up on the Internet and designed a factsheet for Wikipaedia about Robin Hood.
Lunch on Friday also had a Robin Hood theme, including Friars broth with warm rustic bread and a Medieval cherry crumble.
