Curriculum Vision
All staff are committed to providing memorable, high quality learning experiences
which stimulate a sense of awe and wonder about the world in which we live.
Our curriculum will help children to understand their heritage and the history
of the local area. It will broaden their understanding of the wider world with
the aim of raising their aspirations for the future.
All children will have a chance to express themselves and make discoveries
about the world in an independent and meaningful way. Children will learn how
to express their emotions and how to deal with their own and the emotions of
others.
Our curriculum will provide children and staff with the opportunity to explore
new things, not be afraid to make mistakes, to persevere and try again.
Staff will see themselves as the lead learner and every lesson will be taught
with genuine enthusiasm and enjoyment to promote a life-long love of learning.
We believe that how something is taught is just as important as what is taught.
All staff are encouraged and supported in being innovative and creative.
Our curriculum is built around a series of opportunities for children to get
involved, to think, analyse and reason out things for themselves. Our children
are taught how to behave appropriately in a wide range of social and cultural
situations. These are life skills that lie at the heart of our curriculum.
Our children are enabled to be creative, to write, perform and express themselves
in an independent way because we value creative intelligence just as much as
academic intelligence. We promote respect, caring, and team spirit by encouraging
everyone to work together in a supportive learning community.
In our school we aim to hear discussion and laughter, to see smiles and friendship.
We know that everyone works at their best when they feel good about themselves
and when this happens there is a true sense of excitement in learning and teaching.
